The vision:
"To equip, inspire, empower and disciple men".
The goal of the Men's fellowship is to encourage men to play their part in the life of the church and fellowship which God has called them to.
The Ministry aims to facilitate a more active kinship amongst the men at LCF, enabling them to be true servant leaders in the family, church, work place and community. In short, we aim to build men of integrity who will be role models in their families, church and society at large. This is being achieved through Men's breakfasts/dinners, mentoring programmes, Conferences, Seminars and events such as weekend away eg Encounter, sports etc.
In our meetings it is intended that we fellowship together as we study God’s Word so we are better equipped to feed ourselves, our families and others from the Scriptures and we support one another in prayer and friendship.
Different subjects are tackled including finance, relationships issues, careers, spirituality, Manhood, Marriage, and Family.
In Edward Katende, we have a champion who is tasked to see how our men can benefit from practical cooperation and to sell the vision to every man and to keep the fellowship focused on realising those benefits. He is being supported by a taskforce of result oriented men of God.
In some of the previous regional meetings, the following points were raised and carried. That;-
We aim to have a fellowship built on trust, openness and mutual concern. The heart of the Gospel is restored relationships. We aim to build a fellowship of men who spend time on getting to know, understand, and appreciate each other.
So we need to help each other heal the wounds caused by our past experiences. This will be possible through informal sessions where men will feel at ease with each other, develop a rapport which in turn will help build trust among us. We need to build a fellowship of champions i.e. men that may fail, but they never quit;
We aim to operate by identifying key felt needs among the men, distill and agree upon these needs, Kingdom priorities, barriers to spiritual breakthroughs, resources available or needed, and realistic priorities for action. We encourage the widest possible ownership and commitment to the common vision and for all men to participate in the process, not just the dream.
We aim to take time to establish unity/oneness privately in one-on-one meetings.
We see prayer and communion as uniquely powerful elements to bind us together in Christ. We aim to have church wide events like the encounter, where we come together, seek the Lord and eat and drink and ‘chill out’. This is to be refreshed and empowered by frequently praying in small groups (regional men’s fellowships) where individuals can express concern for each other's personal needs and by the group sharing communion together (swallowship as the West London men call it). So far we have South London and West London meeting on a monthly basis;
We aim to challenge and where necessary change men’s attitudes.
Be the man you are called to be – many people need you.
